Baby, It's cold outside

Yesterday, it was balmy, with temperatures in the high 70's - if not warmer. Today, we woke up to 37 degrees with a wind chill making it feel like 21. Lordy! Time for the fleece-lined jeans, sweatshirt, scarf, coat and gloves to go outside to do chores.

The plants are definitely confused. One of my Iris plants was showing off a purple blossom. Crazy weather patterns!
Here's what was happening on the farm this week.

I'm trying to finish some of my MANY projects - and this one was the one I chose to work on. It's a knitted Log Cabin Lap Blanket. I'm working on knitting the borders. Easy enough to do, just time consuming.

Our Bradford Pear. I know. I know. Many of my gardening friends hate this species of tree, but I love the colors, so I'm keeping it. Greg and I were busy (mostly Greg) trimming and pruning the trees around our property. Lots of trips to our burn pile - which is not exactly a burn pile, but a habitat sanctuary for wild animals.
And lastly, our infamous tarp over our hay! Greg has covered the hay numerous times and put assorted objects around the bundle to keep it from flying off. The tarp didn't withstand the 25+ mph winds last night. The only thing that kept it on was the fact that the wind was blowing from the north. <sigh> Back to the drawing board.
So, my farm friends, this was my week. I hope you all had a joyous Christmas! Have a wonderful New Year and I'll see you in 2026!!
